A Ring a Week Project - Week 2

For my second ring project I wanted to do something totally different. After a scavenge around our studio and an inspiring conversation with Brendan I found some fiber optic cable for a model we made years ago. I thought is would be cool to have a ring that was illuminated.

So here is my first try...

A Sterling Silver ring, size 9, made out of tubing with fiber optics threaded through the center. It picks up some ambient light and glows at each opening.

I think this project needs another try as a stronger light source is needed.
OK, time to call in the engineers and computers guys for some input and help.

A Ring a Week Project - Week 1

I am embarking on a new project with four of my fellow jewellery designers from the Onion Studio; Simone Richmond, Patsy Kay Kolesar, Jessica Taylor.

We are creating one new ring each week until the Eastside Culture Crawl, on November 18th, 19th & 20th. All rings will be on sale at the Crawl and in total there will be around 162 to 168 rings!

The guidelines are simple, each ring will be one of a kind and the themes, designs & materials will be up to the designer.
It is very inspiring to have a challenge like this and I am very excited about whole the process.
My first ring is called “Orbit”, a design very different from my regular style.

Made out of Sterling Silver, the ring is a size 9. Stay tuned for more rings!
